I have a general psychology practice...but over the past 25+ years, with additional training and experience, I have developed a number of specialties. These include:
I have treated individuals with sexual disorders and sexual concerns for many years. I consider myself "sex positive," LGBT-supportive, and alternative lifestyle (e.g., polyamory) and "kink" aware. I was elected a Full Member of the Society for Sex Therapy and Research (SSTAR) in 2012 and am a Certified Sex Therapist through the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors & Therapists (AASECT). I have provided sexuality counseling and sex therapy training privately as well as to the American Academy of Psychotherapists, the Pennsylvania Psychological Association , the Delaware Professional Counselors Association, SEXx:Interactive Philadephia and the National Association of Forensic Counselors. I am also a Clinical Member of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (ATSA).

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing is a clinically-validated form of exposure therapy for treating and resolving anxieties, phobias and traumas that may not have responded to "traditional" talk therapy. EMDR can be used with adults, adolescents, and children.
I engage in a respectful, whole-person, systems-oriented approach to substance abuse, addiction, and behavioral compulsions (e.g., compulsive overeating, sexual compulsivity, gambling). My goal is to help you discover the tools that work best for you to break the chains of addictive behaviors. Dr. Dubrow-Marshall and I are both certified in addictions treatment by the APA College of Professional Psychology; I am additionally certified as a
Master Addictions Counselor
. I have taught addictions counseling on local, state and national levels, and was on the addictions counseling faculty at Villanova University for ten years.
We provide forensic examinations and expert witness testimony in custody matters, and in legal cases involving undue influence, malpractice, and/or psychological injury. Both Drs. Steve Eichel and Linda Dubrow-Marshall have testified in several high-profile cases; I worked for two years as a court psychologist for Camden County, NJ and I have a broad range of forensic experience. My criminal cases have involved capital (death penalty) crimes, competency (insanity defense), sexual abuse and sexual offending. In 2003, I served as an evaluator and expert witness for the defense in the Lee Boyd Malvo ("The Beltway Sniper") serial-murder case. (For my statement about my involvement in this case, please click on "Malvo" in the "More" tab below.) For an updated copy of Dr. Eichel's forensic c.v., please email
Child & Adolescent Therapy
I have developed a reputation for being able to work with difficult and "resistant" children and teenagers. I am the former Clinical Director of the St. Francis Homes for Boys, and have been a trainer of child and adolescent therapists since 1986. I work with children and adolescents in individual and conjoint family therapy.
I have significant experience treating children, adolescents and adults who have experienced trauma, including physical, psychological/emotional and sexual abuse. I am especially experienced in treating complex and chronic trauma (individuals who have experienced multiple traumas over many years). I use a strengths-focused, gentle approach to treatment that is consistent with empirical research on the treatment of trauma and what we know to be "best practice" in this difficult field.
